Bukayo Saka, Leandro Trossard Doubtful For Wolves – Mikel Arteta

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta have revealed that Bukayo Saka and Leandro Trossard are both doubts for Sunday’s Premier League final-day clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Both strikers were picked to the starting lineup for Arsenal’s 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest last Saturday, which brought down the Gunners’ title ambitions.

Trossard, who was filling in for the injured Gabriel Martinelli, played 70 minutes before being replaced by Fabio Vieira, while Saka played the full 90.

However, during Friday’s pre-game press conference, Arteta said that the two would be doubtful for Sunday’s encounter due to niggles, while Reiss Nelson missed the loss to Forest due to illness and will be assessed.

Mohamed Elneny and Takehiro Tomiyasu are also out owing to major knee injuries, while William Saliba (back) and Oleksandr Zinchenko (calf) will also miss the final day.

With nothing but pride on the line at the Emirates, Arteta was expected to make changes to his starting XI, but injuries to Saka and Trossard could allow Nelson and Emile Smith Rowe to make their Premier League debuts.

Nelson is expected to sign a new long-term contract at the Emirates, after Saka, who signed a new deal until 2027 on Tuesday, and Arteta expressed hope that more renewals will be concluded in the coming weeks.

“It’s great news for the club,” Arteta said on Saka’s new contract. “The club has done a great job, everybody has participated in that deal to make it happen. Hopefully there will be a few more to come.”

Negotiations with Saliba’s camp are also ongoing, and Martin Odegaard is expected to sign a new contract before the 2023-24 season.
