Manchester United star, Diogo Dalot, has outlined the three main factors that influenced his choice to extend his five-year deal with the Red Devils.
Dalot signed a new contract on Wednesday at Carrington after making 42 appearances so far in 2022–2023 under Erik ten Hag.
The Portuguese claimed that the possibility of a bright future for the Reds, following winning the Carabao Cup and clinching a top-four position this season, made it an easy decision.
The new agreement will keep him at Manchester United until at least 2028, with the option of an additional year.
Additionally, he acknowledged the importance of the supporters and their support when he originally joined as a teenager from FC Porto in 2018.
“Obviously a part [of the decision] was I looked to the future and the prospects that we have now and wanting to fight for every competition,” he explained.
“Also looking back at what made me sign for this club: the passion that I’ve seen, especially from the fans towards me since day one.

“This love from them made me believe that I can be a really good part of this club for many years and like I said, an extension means that I have this responsibility to keep showing this club that I deserve to be here and that I deserve to play for this badge.

“Since he signed, since he came, I think the connection that we had was good straightaway,” Dalot added on Erik Ten Hag.
“I said many times, I enjoy the way he thinks of football and what he demands from the players. I see myself a lot in that.
