Tottenham Hotspur are on the verge of sealing a move for Empoli goalkeeper, Guglielmo Vicario for a fee believed to be in the region of £18 million.
Italian news outlet, TutoMercato claimed the shot-stopper will take a flight to London in the next hours to undergo medical testing before finalizing a transfer to the Premier League club.
After Empoli accepted their offer of €20 million plus bonuses, it is claimed that the player is ‘one step away’ from joining Ange Postecoglou’s team. ‘Only the finishing details’ are needed for the transaction to be finalized.
Hugo Lloris, who has already stated his wish to go, is anticipated to be replaced by Vicario as Tottenham’s first-choice goalkeeper in the upcoming campaign.
Tottenham identified the 26-year-old as an alternative to Brentford’s David Raya who is believed to have also agreed on personal terms with the north London-based club.
Raya has shown interest, but the Bees are holding out for £40 million. While the two London teams are still far apart in their assessments of the Spanish international.
Fabrizio Corsi, the president of Empoli, has expressed his “pride” in selling Vicario to Spurs.
