Mnachester United and Chelsea reportedly made an approach to sign Fulham winger, Willian after he became free agent.
Between 2013 and 2020, Willian was a Chelsea player. And during that time, he helped the Blues win two Premier League titles, the Europa League, and an FA Cup. Then, when he joined Chelsea’s London rivals Arsenal, he created an uproar.
However, his tenure with the Emirates did not go as planned. And he was permitted to leave after just one season to join Corinthians in Brazil.
In September 2022, Willian made his way back to England by signing a one-year deal with Fulham. He had a productive debut season at Craven Cottage, contributing to Fulham’s 10th-place Premier League finish with five goals and six assists in 30 games.
However, the 70-cap Brazil international left Fulham as a free agent. That followed their inability to reach a new agreement on terms.
Although, Willian eventually made a significant U-turn on Monday. As Fulham confirmed that he is once again one of their players. He signed a one-year contract with a one-year extension option.
According to Team Talk, things could have turned out quite differently. Willian may have actually ended up at Manchester United or back with Chelsea, according to ESPN Brazil writer Joao Castelo-Branco, who posted an update on Twitter.
Man Utd and Chelsea both unexpectedly contacted Willian’s representatives to inquire about a possible transfer.

The 34-year-old was being “monitored” by both Erik ten Hag and Mauricio Pochettino because they both believed that he could make a solid backup winger.
Instead of making the move to either club, Willian will try to assist Fulham improve on their outstanding finish from last season by maintaining his strong play.
