Chelsea Sees Bid For Midfielder Rejected, Still Far From His Price Tag

Brighton and Hove Albion have reportedly rejected Chelsea’s improved bid of £70 million for Moises Caicedo.

Last month, the Blues made a £60 million offer for the Ecuadorian midfielder. but it was swiftly rejected. Brighton also rejected their second offer.

According to Daily Mail, the £70 million bid was rejected in a matter of seconds. And Brighton have not wavered in their stance that they have no need or desire to sell Caicedo.

The 21-year-old only recently signed a new contract at the Amex Stadium that runs through 2027. And gives the Seagulls the option of extending it by another year.

This puts them in a good negotiation status. And the fact that they are still demanding £100 million shows how distant the two clubs’ valuations of Caicedo are.

Last week, Caicedo called Chelsea a “beautiful club” and said he couldn’t pass up the opportunity to join them. But Brighton have remained steadfast.

They have lost Alexis MacAllister this summer. And they don’t want to lose Caicedo to a Premier League side for less than what they are asking for.

It is a setback for Chelsea, who are struggling mightily to recover from a disastrous 2022–23 season.

Thomas Tuchel, Graham Potter, and Frank Lampard were all unable to get the most out of the players during Todd Boehly’s first season as owner. And the team ultimately ended the Premier League campaign in the 12th position.

Chelsea and Brighton are scheduled to face each other on July 26 in Philadelphia. And it seems more improbable that a deal for Caicedo would be reached before then. Giving the Blues’ continued inability to make progress in negotiations.
