Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper, Gianluigi Donnarumma and his partner were reportedly robbed in their home in Paris on Thursday night. The incident happened just days before the Italian leaves for pre-season friendlies.
According to the French website Actu17 as reported by Euro News, the couple was “tied up” in their flat by “several individuals” before being taken to the hospital.
The source said without providing more information that Donnarumma was “slightly injured” and a weapon had been utilized on the scene.
The pair fled to a nearby hotel after escaping their restraints, and the workers there reported the incident.
The robbery did not result in any bodily harm to Donnarumma’s companion.
According to a police source, “watches, jewelry, and luxury leather goods” worth more than €500,000 were stolen.
Donnarumma, 24, was scheduled to fly off with his team, PSG, on Saturday for preseason training in Japan.
Several current or past PSG players, including Presnel Kimpembe, Marquinhos, Thiago Silva, Angel Di Maria, Dani Alves, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, Sergio Rico, and Mauro Icardi, have already been the targets of burglaries in recent years. Almost always while they were not home.
