Former Aston Villa, Sunderland and Tottenham Hotspur striker, Darren Bent has advised Brentford goalkeeper, David Raya to snub Arsenal for a move to Chelsea.
Following a string of outstanding seasons with the west London club, the Bees’ goalkeeper has attracted the attention of numerous elite clubs during the current transfer window.
Arsenal, who are in the running to win the Premier League, are leading the race to sign the 27-year-old.
But Bent, who played two seasons for rival Spurs, questioned why the Spanish international would want to be second fiddle to Aaron Ramsdale. And he suggested Chelsea as an alternative.
‘David Raya is better than Kepa Arrizabalaga,’ Bent told talkSPORT. ‘So why would Chelsea not go for him?
‘And why would David Raya not think, “Hold on, why am I going to Arsenal to play behind Aaron Ramsdale? Why don’t I go to Chelsea and be their number one?”
‘There’s something not quite right with Arsenal’s deal for David Raya. If I was Chelsea, I would be trying to get him.’
The Bees goalkeeper, who had 12 league clean sheets last season, allegedly has agreed personal terms with Arsenal.
Reports state that Arsenal will now step up their effort to sign the goalkeeper, who is valued at £40 million.

After Brentford turned down Bayern Munich’s offer of a loan transfer with the option to sign Raya permanently, Mikel Arteta’s side found itself in the lead.
It is anticipated that the Spaniard would not take Ramsdale’s place as the starting goalkeeper. But he would instead play in cup games to give the England international more competition.
