On Tuesday, Bayern Munich manager Thomas Tuchel publicly acknowledged the necessity for a defensive midfielder.
The German manager stated that he is happy with all of the team’s choices in the middle of the field.
However, he is not opposed to adding a new number six to the lineup to provide more stability and toughness in the park.
Bayern had initially looked into the potential of acquiring Declan Rice from West Ham United earlier in the summer transfer season.
The English midfielder spoke with Tuchel, but he was interested in joining Arsenal over Bayern Munich. In the end, Rice moved to Arsenal for a tempting £105m transfer fee.
Throughout the summer, Bayern have been linked to a number of defensive midfielders. And it seems like Die Roten have set an ambitious target to deal with this situation.
According to Sport1, Bayern have picked Real Madrid’s Aurelien Tchouameni as the perfect option for the number six position. The Bavarian club already held conversations with Tchouameni’s entourage to discuss a possible transfer.
If a permanent transfer is not possible this summer, Die Roten are willing to take him on loan from the Spanish team.

The Bavarian club believes that Tchouameni will be available for a transfer (whether on a temporary loan or a permanent basis) later in the transfer window considering Real Madrid have intense competition in the midfield position.
Bayern have done business with Real Madrid for loan transfers in the recent past. It wouldn’t be a big surprise if both clubs end up negotiating a similar agreement for Tchouameni later this summer.
