Newcastle Ready To Swoop For Chelsea Star After Just One Season At Stamford Bridge

Newcastle United are still actively pursuing players in the transfer market and are getting ready to pursue one who only recently joined Chelsea.

According to the Telegraph as reported by Four Four Two, Newcastle United are interested in bringing Marc Cucurella to St. James’ Park this summer. Although it would probably just be a loan arrangement.

Cucurella only joined Chelsea in August 2022 for £55 million, with the possibility to increase to £62 million with add-ons. But the Spanish left-back may already be leaving Stamford Bridge after missing Chelsea’s 1-1 tie with Liverpool on the first match week of the season.

While the Tyneside club is prepared to give a loan deal with an option or obligation to buy after a season, Chelsea would like to sell due to financial fair play issues. And the apparent impending arrival of Moises Caicedo from Brighton for £115 million.

A similar deal for Arsenal left-back Kieran Tierney, who appears certain to leave the Emirates this summer after falling out of favor under Mikel Arteta, is also suggested in the report.

Any prospective trade would most likely take place in the closing week or even in the days of the transfer window. Because Arsenal would like to sell the Scotsman this summer.

The Magpies have spent more than £120 million on Sandro Tonali, Harvey Barnes, and Tino Livramento already this transfer season.

It seems as though they aren’t content with stopping there. And are moving forward with talks to recruit a full-back as they get ready to compete in the UEFA Champions League for the first time in 20 years.
