Man United Open Talks To Sign Defender From Premier League Rival Club

Manchester United have reportedly made an enquiry about the availability of Brentford defender, Rico Henry in a bid to cushion the effect of Luke Shaw’s injury.

Before the transfer market closes on Friday night, United are looking to add a new left-back. And a number of players have been mentioned in connection with that search. Including Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella, Tottenham’s Sergio Reguilon, and Barcelona defender, Marcos Alonso.

The Daily Mail, however, asserts that the Red Devils have already contacted Brentford regarding a possible deal for Henry. And that the 26-year-old recently emerged as a surprise target.

After moving to Brentford from Walsall in 2016, the former England U-20 international has been among the team’s most reliable players.

Across all competitions, he has made 201 appearances, contributed 11 assists, and scored five goals.

He assisted the Bees in finishing ninth in the Premier League last campaign as they were the only team to defeat Manchester City both at home and away.

The left-back appeared in 39 games and contributed two assists across all competitions.

This season, Henry has featured in each of Brentford’s three league games and recorded an assist. He is an important part of Thomas Frank’s plans, so United should expect to pay a premium for him.
