Napoli’s new signing Jesper Lindstrom has revealed that he had the chance to join Liverpool but he rejected the move because of playing time.
Lindstrom just switched from Eintracht Frankfurt to the defending Serie A champions after garnering significant interest due to his accomplishments in the Bundesliga. At the end of August, he pledged to Napoli for five years.
The attacking midfielder had been linked with Liverpool and other suitors before making the move. He has now acknowledged that he had the opportunity to play for Jurgen Klopp’s team.
It’s interesting that he acknowledged supporting Liverpool, but he didn’t believe he would see enough action there.
Speaking to Tipsbladet as reported by Team Talk, he said: “There was Liverpool after all, but would I get playing time? Would it be smart to go to Liverpool?
“I’m a Liverpool fan, it says it everywhere. So it could also be an insanely cool experience. But if I’m not playing, I might as well sit and watch them on TV for another club.

“I’m at an age now where I have to play some football.
“That’s why I think Napoli is a good change. It is a top club in the world and they have expressed that I will play and I will get a lot of chances.”
