Due to an embarrassing error, fans of Manchester United were unable to purchase shirts featuring new acquisition Rasmus Hojlund’s name on the back for more than a month.
Hojlund was acquired by United this summer in a deal worth up to £72m from Atalanta. The Old Trafford Megastore, however, did not have the correct Danish ‘ø’ ” in stock, so fans who wanted a replica kit with the name of their new star striker were disappointed.
On August 5, Hojlund was formally introduced to the United fans at Old Trafford before the team’s preseason friendly against Ligue 1 team Lens.
The forward didn’t make his debut until September 3, when he came off the bench in the 3-1 loss to Arsenal at the Emirates, as he was dealing with a back issue at the time of signing.
Six weeks after Hojlund joined United, supporters may now receive his name on their jerseys at last, according to the Daily Mail, who report that the “unique o” they were missing arrived on Thursday and the shirts are now available for purchase.

However, the club have been blasted as ‘incompetent’ for their failure to sell replica Hojlund shirts earlier.
One fan, who was hoping to buy one as a birthday present for a family member, fumed: “It’s incompetence. The big summer signing and you still can’t get a shirt with his name on it because nobody saw fit to get the Danish ‘ø’.”
Due to Hojlund’s injury, United did not announce his shirt number when he signed either, instead waiting almost a month to give him the No11 on the eve of his debut against the Gunners.
