Arsenal are reportedly willing to go back for Sporting Lisbon central defender Ousmane Diomande next summer after seeing their offer rejected for the teenage star.
Diomande joined the Portuguese strongholds in January of this year. But he has already emerged as one of the league’s brightest young prospects. The Gunners, who are still striving to improve their defensive options, have taken notice of his displays at Sporting.
In the summer, manager Mikel Arteta brought in Jurrien Timber and initiated Diomande transfer quest. Their £30 million offer for the 19-year-old, who has a £68 million release clause in his contract with still four years remaining, was swiftly rejected by Sporting.
Arsenal haven’t let the Portuguese team’s advantageous negotiating position stop them from going after their aim.
Portuguese news publication, Record claims that even if the Gunners’ £30 million deal was turned down, league contenders will still be interested next summer.
They reportedly have every intention of making a fresh offer at the end of the current campaign in an effort to lure him to the Emirates. Since his arrival in the capital city of Portugal, Diomande’s reputation has grown.

He has started each of Sporting’s four games thus far this season. Ruben Amorin’s team are currently third after winning three and drawing one of their four games.
The defender earned his first cap for Ivory Coast in their 1-0 victory over Lesotho.
