Chelsea ‘Lead Race’ For Premier League Forward Amid Man United, Tottenham Interest

Chelsea are reportedly ahead in the race to sign Brentford striker, Ivan Toney, with Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur eyeing a move.

Since the Boehly-led group acquired the club in May 2022, the Blues have already spent over £1 billion on new players. With forwards Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku coming this summer.

While Nkunku is currently injured and could be sidelined until at least November. Jackson has contributed a lot of energy but has squandered several significant opportunities.

And as a result, Toney has risen to the top of Chelsea’s list of transfer targets as they aim to add another frontman in the January transfer window.

After contributing 20 goals and four assists in 33 League games last season, the England international is also reportedly a target for United and Spurs.

Toney was given an eight-month ban by the Football Association in May for gambling violations. And as a result, he is currently prohibited from participating in any footballing action until January 2024.

After passing up the opportunity to sign Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic over the summer, London World via Football 365 now claim that Chelsea are ‘leading the race to sign’ Toney early enough for when his suspension ends in January.

There has been a need to start negotiations and identify a new centre forward since Chelsea want to return to the top four this campaign and challenge for titles.

According to the publication, Pochettino has told Boehly that Toney is the “ideal choice”. Because he is English, at an appropriate age, and has experience in the Premier League. And that they are “laying the groundwork” for a winter transfer.
