Sergi Albert, a former Spanish referee, claims he was intimidated by Javier Negreira, the son of Jose Maria Enriquez Negreira. The latter is currently at the center of a sports corruption investigation involving €7.6 million in payments to the former Vice-President of the Technical Committee for Referees (CTA). Caso Negreira, as it is known.
Albert told Cadena Cope that he had been intimidated while working as a referee analyst for Catalan television station TV3. According to Football Espana
“When I was working at TV3, he called and said, ‘Be careful what you say about the referees because something bad could happen to you.'” I couldn’t give up. He had a strong ability to persuade others, and at one time, he established a payment for some debts that could not be justified, if not to keep the money for free. I’m not sure why they multiplied his payments by four. He did wield authority in the Committee.”

people, and at some point, he made a payment for certain debts that could not be justified, if not to keep that money for free. I’m not sure why they multiplied his payments by four. He did wield authority in the Committee.”
One of the CTA’s justifications is that Negreira’s post as Vice-President did not provide him enough ability to influence referees. Albert did say that he was unaware of anyone receiving an express directive to referee differently.
“I don’t know of anyone who has received an order.”
He also mentioned an event involving Enriquez Negreira’s son, Javier Negreira, in which he thought he was endangered.
“My relationship with Negreira’s son is that he was teaching referee classes and we were working together.
