Daniel Levy Opens Up On His Own Tottenham Future And Explains More About That Harry Kane Clause

Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy has been speaking again this week and has discussed his future at the club and any potential investment in the club, as well as Harry Kane’s buy-back clause.

Daniel Levy says he has “no real interest” in leaving Tottenham Hotspur but has a responsibility to listen to any suggestions to invest in the club that come in.

The Spurs chairman has been with the club for 23 years and has watched the construction of the stadium and training facilities, as well as highs such as the club’s appearance in the Champions League final in 2019. However, he has received criticism from some Tottenham fans, with protests at times opposing his decisions, and the team has only won one prize – the league cup in 2008 – during his tenure.

The Spurs Chairman Words?

He is generally reserved when it comes to public appearances. Levy has had a busy few weeks of speaking, beginning with a meeting with the Fan Advisory Board a fortnight ago, continuing with a Q&A at the fans’ forum this week, and now speaking to business media source Bloomberg.

When asked about his future plans and the possibility of selling a part in the club, the Spurs chairman stated, “I’ve got no real desire to leave Tottenham, but I have a duty to consider anything that anyone may want to propose.” It isn’t about me; it is about what is best for the club.”

He added: “We run this club as if it’s a public company. If anyone wants to make a serious proposition to the board of Tottenham we would consider it, along with our advisers, and if we felt it was in the interests of the club we would be open to anything.”

Levy and members of his family own just under 30% of ENIC’s 86.58% controlling stake in the club, and he admitted that the club had received offers from the Middle East, Far East, and the United States over the years, but “nothing has been put on our table that we felt was in the interests of shareholders.”

The Spurs chairman, who said new head coach Ange Postecoglou has made a “very, very big impact,” also revealed on Tuesday evening at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium supporters’ forum that the club had a buy-back clause for all-time leading striker Harry Kane, who left for Bayern Munich this summer.

In his interview, Levy elaborated significantly, adding, “If Harry, one day, wants to come back to the Premier League and he wants to come to Tottenham, we would be able to repurchase him.”
