Barcelona, Madrid Set To Lose Out On LaLiga Tricky Winger

Barcelona and Real Madrid are reportedly set to miss out on Athletic Bilbao winger, Nico Williams as he is on the verge of signing a new long-term contract at the club.

The 21-year-old’s current deal is set to expire at the end of the season. And the Basque club are progressing well in contract talks with the Spain international over renewal.

Since Nico has not yet renewed his contract with his club, there is a great deal of interest in him in the market.

Real and Barca have looked into the idea of him being a free agent in the upcoming summer. But SPORT reports that both teams may have to concede that they won’t be able to get the speedster for nothing.

According to the report, Nico and Athletic are nearing an understanding and may do so before the year is up.

His new contract may have a lesser release clause in order to keep the door open for a potential move for Nico in the future. And to prevent Athletic from losing him for nothing. His bond with the club is said to be strong.

Several European teams are intrigued by the prospect of him being a free agent. But some clubs are also prepared to invest funds in him in January.

These clubs included Brighton and Aston Villa, while PSG also inquired about this. Real and Barcelona, on the other hand, are only considering free transfer.

Nico still needs to sign his extension with Bilbao, and no definitive action has been taken as of now. As a result, interested teams are monitoring his progress.
