Bruno Guimares told TNT Sports that Newcastle United’s 4-1 Champions League victory over Paris Saint-Germain at St James’ Park was a “special night.”
After Miguel Almirón opened the goal, Dan Burn’s header, assisted by the 25-year-old midfielder, increased the Magpies’ lead before halftime. Sean Longstaff and Fabian Schär also found the back of the net in the second half.
Guimares has praised not just his Newcastle colleagues but also the supporters for generating a fantastic atmosphere at St James’ Park, and his sentiments have been conveyed by ESPN.
“I believe so [it was a more than perfect script]. I think the whole team played well, there wasn’t just one individual standout, everyone deserved to be the best player on the team. It was a special night, I think the atmosphere at St. James’ Park is always special, but today was something I’ve never seen before,” he said.

The Brazil international has been vital under Eddie Howe ever since he joined Newcastle from Lyon in January 2022.
When expressing his joy over his side’s win over PSG, which sees Newcastle sit top of the group table, the player admitted he took a risk by joining the Premier League side.
“It’s a fairytale. When I signed, I knew that the club’s first objective was to save itself from relegation, I came here, I took a risk,” Guimarães explained.
“It was a risk, but I knew that if I came here, played well, it would greatly increase my chances of going to the World Cup. I went to the World Cup, I didn’t play as much as I expected, but that’s part of it.”
The decision to join Newcastle has clearly paid off and the South American has explained how he sees it.
“Coming here I think it was the best decision I made in my life, I’m very happy. For many, I am already an idol of the team [laughs]. The affection they have for me, for my father is really cool…. It’s been a very special moment here, I’m very happy, I hope to continue bringing joy to the fans.”
