Leicester might be No 1 in England, but former Tottenham striker Mido is now No 1 all over after Claudio Ranieri’s men claimed the Premier League title.
The Egyptian was left cursing his former club after vowing to have his head shaved if Spurs did not beat the Foxes to top spot in England’s top flight.
Before beIN Sports’ broadcast of Leicester’s 3-1 win over Everton, the 33- year-old, who retired in 2013, was shorn on camera as his colleagues in the studio tried to contain their laughter.
Richard Keys, who is one of the main presenters for the global channel posted a video of the impromptu haircut on Twitter as the ex-Roma star lost his wavy dark locks to the studio floor.
The former Sky Sports presenter wrote: ‘Somebody else got it wrong about Leicester. X-Spurs striker Mido lost his hair.’
Mido spent two seasons at Spurs from 2005-2007 scoring 14 Premier League goals for the club.
And the former striker had looked like he might be saved by Mauricio Pochettino’s men until two weeks ago when their chase of the Foxes was severely damaged by a 1-1 draw at home to West Brom.
Eden Hazard’s wonderful finish which helped Chelsea grab a draw with Tottenham at Stamford Bridge sealed Spurs’ and Mido’s fate on Monday and Leicester were officially coronated at the King Power stadium on Saturday.
Mido isn’t the only former Tottenham star who is set for embarrassment on air after Claudio Ranieri’s side’s incredible triumph.
Gary Lineker has vowed to present the first Match of the Day of next season in his underwear after Leicester turned from relegation candidates to Premier League kings.
But the lifelong Leicester fan will no doubt see the trade as a more than worthwhile one as he got to watch the club where he spent the first seven years of his career conquer English football’s top flight.
