Man United Midfielder Defends Ten Hag Amid Rumored Dressing Room Split

Manchester United midfielder, Scott Mc Tominay has jumped to the defence of Erik ten Hag amid an ongoing dressing room split and insisted that he is “100 per cent sure the 53-year-old is the right man for the job.

Ten Hag has been under increasing pressure lately as a result of two straight 3-0 home losses to Manchester City and Newcastle, respectively. The Red Devils have lost five of their first ten games this season, which is a terrible start to the new Premier League season.

Given that a considerable chunk of funds was expended in the summer on players like Mason Mount and Rasmus Hojlund, it makes sense that the Old Trafford supporters are expecting more than what they have witnessed thus far.

Late on Thursday night, rumors circulated that Ten Hag’s replacement was being considered by the club’s upper management.

Following those reports, there was conjecture that the United manager was beginning to lose the trust of his players as well. This is due to a rift in the dressing room.

According to The Times as cited by The Mirror, several important players are starting to believe that the Dutchman lacks the qualities necessary for such a massive overhaul.

Reports of unrest due to off-field issues involving Jadon Sancho, Mason Greenwood, and Antony have split the squad into cliques.

Many believe that key players on the team are suffering injuries as a direct result of the Dutchman’s intense training sessions. Tyrell Malacia, Luke Shaw, Casemiro, and Lisandro Martinez are the four players that are presently out with injuries.

Having said that, McTominay has openly supported his gaffer and promised that the hard work being done in the background will eventually pay off.

What Did Mc Tominay Say About Ten Hag?

“There’s more that goes into it when you’re not playing well and you’re not doing so well,” the Scot told United’s website.

“I know the fans don’t want to hear that, they want to see results and performances and I think they want to see the players smiling and happy.

It’s not quite happening at the moment, but I’m 100 percent sure that the manager can put that into practice and it can come off. I’m sure of that.

“It’s not quite happening at the moment, sometimes that’s football, but I feel like for us in that dressing room we have to stay tight and keep a clear head, and we can’t get too emotional with everything that surrounds us. We’ve got to block it all out.”
