Chelsea, Arsenal Hold Talks With £80m-Rated Forward, January Move Imminent

Premier League giants, Arsenal and Chelsea have reportedly held talks with Brentford star, Ivan Toney ahead of the January transfer window.

The 27-year-old is prepared to pursue a move through a January transfer in order to join an elite club that can contend for major titles.

According to 90min as reported by Caught Offside, Brentford will want more than £100 million for the striker. And it is said that both Chelsea and Arsenal have had discussions with the player’s agent.

It was claimed that the striker is taken aback by the asking amount. And it’s unclear if he can persuade Brentford’s hierarchy to allow him to depart for a lower sum.

There’s no denying that Arsenal’s striking depth is lacking. Although Gabriel Jesus has been a great addition, he does not score goals frequently. Toney will give their attack a fresh perspective.

Chelsea must also improve the caliber of players in their offensive unit. During the summer transfer window, they acquired Nicolas Jackson from Villarreal to address their goal-scoring issues.

Thus far, the 22-year-old has failed to meet the expected standards. Just three goals have been scored by the Senegal international in all competitions.

Adding Toney might completely change their play in the final third and provide them with a dramatic turnaround.

In order to close off the season strong and qualify for the Champions League, the Blues will be looking to add quality players during the January transfer window.
