Chelsea winger, Mykhailo Mudryk has urged Kieran Trippier to stay strong following his mistake which led the Blues to equalize from in the Carabao Cup quarter-final at Stamford Bridge.
Callum Wilson’s opening goal was canceled out by Mudryk’s strike, forcing the game to go on penalties. In the shootout, the Ukrainian was one of Chelsea’s four successful penalty takers. However, Trippier was unable to atone for his error as he missed his penalty.
In the end, Newcastle were defeated 4–2 in the shootout, and Chelsea advanced to the semifinals.
According to The Shield Gazzette, following the game, Mudryk sent the Newcastle right-back a supportive message on Instagram.
“Kieran, I just wanna say to you: stay strong,” the 21-year-old wrote. “Sometimes s–t happens but I think you are strong footballer, no matter what”.
Since joining Newcastle in January 2022, Trippier has been one of the team’s best players. However, in recent games, the England international has committed a few individual errors that have resulted in goals.
Speaking about Trippier’s displays, Howe explained: “He is an incredibly strong character as I said many times.
“He’s a transformative signing, someone who has taken the group on to a totally new level. I’m sure he doesn’t feel fantastic because he prides himself on his technical excellence and the quality of his defensive work.

Trippier’s availability for Newcastle’s match against Luton Town this weekend at Kenilworth Park remains unknown.
