Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola is reportedly planning a warm-weather training camp in Abu Dhabi this month to assist his side Premier League title push.
Guardiola and his team just got back from a trip abroad where they won the FIFA World Club Cup for the first time ever in Saudi Arabia. They have also regained their form in the Premier League since coming back to England, defeating Sheffield United and Everton to close the gap on leaders Liverpool to just two points.
Additionally, City’s previously hectic schedule slows down in January, with just three games scheduled. On January 7, they will play Huddersfield in the FA Cup.
On January 13 and January 31, they will play Newcastle and Burnley in the Premier League respectively.
According to The Mirror, Guardiola wants to take advantage of a gap that exists between the final two games. A number of City players participated in a training camp in the United Arab Emirates during the latter stages of the 2022 World Cup last December.
The manager credited that trip as being crucial to what turned out to be a trophy-filled 2023.
“After Newcastle, if it’s possible, we go to Abu Dhabi again, all together,” he told reporters.

“Last season we were there in the World Cup and it had an incredible impact for the staff and everyone. The five titles prove it.
“We go there to train in better weather, to be together – training, training and training to prepare for the second part of the season. That is the plan but maybe we’ll change it, I don’t know yet.”
