Newcastle United is pleased to announce that defender Fabian Schär’s contract at St. James’ Park has been extended until the summer of 2025.
Schär, who turned 32 last month, has made 169 appearances for the club since joining from Deportivo La Corua in July 2018.
So far in black and white, the elegant centre-back has scored 11 goals, many of which have been stunning, including the unforgettable final goal in the Magpies’ 4-1 Champions League victory against Paris Saint-Germain in October.
“I’ve said it a lot of times, but I feel really at home here,” said Schär, who has played 78 times for his country and is likely to be part of the Rossocrociati squad for next summer’s Euro 2024 competition.
