According to Goal.com, Ilaix Moriba, a former Barcelona midfield sensation, has signed a loan deal with La Liga team Getafe from RB Leipzig, the club announced on Monday. The Guinean international is presently competing for his country at the Africa Cup of Nations 2023, and after his team’s run at the continental championship concludes, he will join his new club.
“Getafe Football Club has reached an agreement with RB Leipzig for the incorporation on loan of Guinean footballer Ilaix Moriba until the end of the season,” stated the official club statement confirming the player’s loan agreement.
At 20 years old, he has a wealth of experience in professional football, especially in La Liga, where he has played a total of 52 games in which he has distributed five assists.

“In the 2021/22 season, Moriba coincided with our coach, José Bordalás, giving a great performance at Valencia CF, where they reached the final of the Copa del Rey. Ilaix, who is with Guinea for the Africa Cup, will arrive in Getafe at the end of his team’s participation in said competition.”
After graduating from La Masia in 2019, Moriba joined the Catalan giants for the 2020–21 season as a senior. The young player arrived in the Bundesliga in August 2021 to join RB Leipzig for an alleged €16 million transfer fee. The midfield player has been on consecutive loan stints at Valencia since January 2022, and he only returned to the German team in time for the current 2023–24 campaign.
Mason Greenwood’s team has been playing well lately; in their last five games across all competitions, they have only lost once. The team’s next match is a La Liga match against Osasuna on January 21.
