Shearer Claims That The Man Utd Situation Would Not Arise At Liverpool or Man City

According to Alan Shearer, a team like Liverpool would not experience the drama that occurred at Manchester United involving Jadon Sancho and Erik ten Hag. The former England striker talked about the events at Old Trafford that ultimately resulted in Sancho being completely barred from first team duties on the most recent episode of The Rest is Football podcast, which is hosted by Gary Lineker and Micah Richards.

According to Liverpool World, The 23-year-old, who hasn’t featured for Man United since August, recently went back on loan to finish the season at his previous team, Borussia Dortmund. A permanent return to Germany does not appear to be in the cards, despite his incredible past performances for the Bundesliga team. When Sancho returns to Manchester this summer, everyone will be watching, and many will be curious to see if he gets sent off on a permanent basis or if he can find a way back into the United team.

Shearer concurred that matters pertaining to the club ought to remain in the locker room when talking about ten Hag’s style of managing United. Richards went on to say that ‘bringing everything into the public eye’ was the boss’s mistake. In fact, over the past few months, the fallout between ten Hag and Sancho has become very public.

Then, Lineker compared the ways in which Klopp and Pep Guardiola handle issues within their teams “behind closed doors” as opposed to speaking with the media about them.

“At Liverpool, they’ve been really successful, so all the power is with the manager,” Shearer replied. “The squad must also take action against a player who misbehaves, regardless of the reason.

“Liverpool can kick someone out, Man City [too] you can just leave them out, because the likelihood is that you’re going to carry on winning. When you’re winning then nothing gets questioned, but as soon as you start losing games, then the issues start to happen.”

Liverpool have benched and rotated key players over the years due to their squad depth. Forwards like Cody Gakpo and Darwin Núñez have often been in healthy competition for a starting spot, while the midfield is also in contention as Harvey Elliott and Curtis Jones put pressure on the new summer signings.
