Klopp Lauds ‘Absolutely Outstanding’ Liverpool Star After Fulham Clash

Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp has lavished praise on Luis Diaz after his goal advanced the Reds to the final of the Carabao Cup in Wembley.

The Reds defeated Fulham 3-2 on aggregate to make it to the final. Liverpool, who had defeated Chelsea on penalties in both the FA Cup final and the showpiece event two years prior, earned a 1-1 draw at Craven Cottage following a 2-1 victory at Anfield in the first leg of the semi-final.

After just 11 minutes, Diaz gave the visitors the lead when his shot eluded Fulham goalkeeper Bernd Leno. The Colombia international was named man of the match after running wild throughout the game.

During his press conference after the game, Klopp made a joke about Diaz’s potential for more than just one goal.

Furthermore, even though Darwin Nunez wasn’t as dangerous in the last third as he usually is, the Anfield boss praised Nunez’s performance.

What Did Klopp Say About Diaz’s Performance Against Fulham?

“Very good,” Klopp said on Diaz’s display as echoed by Liverpool World. “He’s a fantastic player, absolutely.

“Absolutely no criticism but I wish he would’ve set up the second and scored the third because first half it was a fantastic football situation where he was in a similar situation like when he scored.

“But playing-wise, what a boy! The speed, the power he can generate, the technique, the combination of all that… it is absolutely outstanding.

“I am really happy. I liked Darwin’s performance a lot today as well, to be honest. He was maybe not involved in these kind of finish situations.

“But to defend him is a nightmare, to be honest. He was everywhere, he kept the ball and all these kind of things.”

Liverpool will host Norwich City in the 4th round of the FA Cup. Following that, they will entertain Chelsea in a Premier League clash on Wednesday night.
