Dejan Lovren Responds To Mohamed Salah ‘Lies’ As Ex-Liverpool Defender Launches Defence

Dejan Lovren, a former Liverpool defender, has sprang to Mohamed Salah’s defense in the face of criticism directed at the prolific Egyptian attacker.

Salah took a plane back to Merseyside this week to receive treatment for the hamstring injury he suffered against Ghana in Egypt’s second Africa Cup of Nations group stage match. At first, it was believed that the 31-year-old had merely sustained a minor injury that would not keep him out of action for very long. However, Salah’s representative subsequently revealed that this was not the case and that he may spend up to a month out of action.

After this became a reality, it was decided the Liverpool forward would return to Liverpool in a bid to provide him with the best chance of recovering and being able to rejoin his home country should they progress to the latter stages of AFCON.

Responding to such comments, Lovren said on Instagram: “When the hate don’t work, they start telling lies. Keep strong brate [brother].” Lovren of course enjoyed a strong relationship with the ex-Chelsea attacker during his time at Anfield. Explaining how his decision to leave Liverpool was made harder by his close bond with Salah, the now Lyon centre-back told the Athletic in 2021.

“My wife and I had our daily habits. And when you have friends like with me and [Mohamed] Salah, of course, you’re disappointed you are leaving.
