In response to several rumors that prominent figures, such as Zinedine Zidane, the former manager of Real Madrid, are being linked to the Bayern Munich position, Fabrizio Romano has responded.
Following Bayern’s dismal run of results, Thomas Tuchel appears to be under increasing pressure. Romano says that while the German tactician may seem safe for the time being, the Bavarian giants are unlikely to consider him as a long-term option.
Caught Offside notes Romano stated that he prefers not to comment too much on rumors like this because it’s common to see well-known players like Zidane being connected to elite positions like Bayern, in an exclusive interview with CaughtOffside for the most recent edition of his Daily Briefing column.
However, it appears that for the time being, nothing substantial is happening with the French tactician, who has been unemployed for a while despite experiencing great success while leading the Bernabeu.
Romano’s Reactions
Regarding the rumors of Zidane joining Bayern, Romano stated: “Thomas Tuchel’s job is still safe right now.” Although the Bayern board is adamant about sticking with Tuchel, they are understandably unhappy after three straight losses.
“Internal discussions are taking place to try to fix the situation – short-term it looks like Tuchel is safe, but potentially at the end of the season they will explore other options for the head coach.

“Zinedine Zidane is one big name being mentioned with the Bayern job, but I saw maybe five names linked with Bayern in the last 24 hours, it’s normal when a job like that is not safe.
“I’m not aware of any agreement close or imminent with any other manager. I don’t like mentioning five names in one day, so as soon as I know about concrete contacts I will say, but not yet.”
