Following Liverpool’s 1-1 draw against Manchester City on Sunday, it can vividly be said the title race is heating up and both teams alongside Arsenal are in the thick of things.
John Stones’ early goal at Anfield on Sunday put the Reds behind. To guarantee a share of the spoils, Alexis Mac Allister scored from the penalty spot.
Despite having numerous opportunities to win the match, Jurgen Klopp’s team had to settle for a point. As a result, there is now just one point separating the top three in the Premier League, making the race for the top spot even closer.
There appear to be even more twists in store with just ten games left in the season.
After Liverpool were denied a late penalty in the game, manager Jurgen Klopp was not happy. Despite Jeremy Doku’s high boot making contact with MacAllister, there was insufficient evidence for a spot kick to be awarded by referee Michael Oliver or VAR.
What Did Klopp Say About Liverpool’s Penalty Appeal?
According to The Mirror, speaking after the game, Klopp said: “Isn’t it [VAR] there for just making the right decision and not thinking about how high the bar is to overturn a decision?
Anywhere else on the pitch that is a 100% foul, and it’s a yellow card. He hits the ball, and only because his foot is up here, he kicks him.
“It’s a penalty for all football people on the planet, if you don’t think so, maybe you’re not a football person.”
Despite tough competition from the Reds and Arsenal, former Liverpool star, Jamie Carragher thinks City are still the team to beat in the Premier League.

He said: “If you’re Arsenal and you were watching today, you’re probably thinking that the best possible result for you is a draw.
“Then if you’re Liverpool and you’re watching Arsenal play Man City in a few weeks time, you’re thinking the same thing so I think from their points of view, they’re still trying to chase down City. They’re still the team to beat.”
