Henry Delivers Arsenal Judgement Following UCL Victory Over Porto

Arsenal legendary player, Thierry Henry shared his thoughts on the Gunners’ run to the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League.

The Gunners won the second leg 1-0 with Leandro Trossard on the score-sheet. After Porto had won the match in Portugal by the same score, extra time and then penalties were required to determine the winner at Emirates Stadium.

David Raya was the hero of the penalty shootout, saving Wendell’s and Galeno’s spot kicks to send Arsenal to a 4-2 victory with Arsenal scoring every penalty. Raya’s heroics were followed shortly by an on-field interview in which the goalie discussed his emotional state and preparations following two pivotal moments.

“We’ve been working a lot on penalties this year because of nights like these and it’s paid off,” he told TNT Sport. “It’s a great moment. I should have saved three. But I’m over the moon to save two penalties in the Champions League.”

Winning is unquestionably the primary goal in knockout football. Arsenal icon, Henry emphasized when he gave his assessment of the team’s European triumph.

“It feels good,” he said on CBS Sports as echoed by Football London. “I have told you it doesn’t matter how we’re going to go through, we just have to go through.

“We knew it was going to be difficult against Porto. I thought it was going to be a tiny bit more easy at home, but it wasn’t. It’s the Champions League, you’re not playing in your league.

“We went through on penalties. It hasn’t happened for us in a very long time to be in the quarter-finals, but that’s a good result. We are also not playing at the weekend which is important.”
