Bayern Munich defender, Alphonso Davies has been the talk of the town in Madrid and Bavaria lately.
After rumors circulated that Davies and Los Blancos had verbally agreed a contract, Max Eberl, the Sporting Director of Bayern announced that the 22-year-old would be having additional contract negotiations with the team. But it appears that those discussions were fruitless.
According to Diario AS as claimed by Football Espana, the Bundesliga giants made him an offer of €13–14 million annually to sign a new contract. But that amount fell short of his demands of €20 million per year.
With the most recent rejection, Davies has made the decision that he wants to play for Madrid because that is, at least for now, as high as Bayern are willing to go.
The Canada international has placed the ball in Bayern’s court, being aware that they cannot go further and that they must either negotiate a fee for Davies with los Blancos this summer or lose him for free the following summer.
This has been the Galacticos’ approach from the beginning. And it appears that the only thing preventing a transfer at this time is the ongoing negotiations between both clubs.
Christoph Freund, director of football at Bayern, has stated unequivocally that the outfit does not wish to lose players for nothing.

Bayern have demonstrated in the past that they are willing to bargain hard. But it appears that reaching a consensus will be advantageous to all three of them.
It doesn’t appear likely that Davies will make as much as he could have with Bayern given their pay structure. Vinicius Junior and Jude Bellingham currently hold the highest salaries at Real Madrid, with an estimated season salary of €10–12 million.
