Klopp Identifies What He Won’t Miss About Liverpool Ahead Last Derby

Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp is set for his final Merseyside derby on Wednesday night as the Reds are set to clash against Everton at the Goodison Park.

Three points behind Arsenal in the Premier League, the Reds enter the game in second place.

At this point in the season, 3 points are essential. Following the Goodison Park match, Manchester City will have two games remaining on Liverpool. Everton, meanwhile, are currently in 16th place and are not yet guaranteed a safety spot in the Premier League for the upcoming campaign.

In his 18 derbies as manager of Liverpool, Klopp has only lost one: a 2-0 loss at Anfield in 2021, when the game was played behind closed doors because of the Covid-19 pandemic. But in his seven trips to Goodison Park, he has only triumphed twice.

Having competed against eight Everton managers during his tenure on Merseyside, the German has enjoyed the rivalry. But given the pressure his team is under, Klopp says he won’t necessarily miss Derby Day.

According to Liverpool’s official website, Klopp said ahead of the match: “The pressure is higher so why should the joy be higher? You win it, great, but why should I miss the pressure around it?

“This time, when you’re really playing for something, that’s the pressure. But when you are both not in a great moment, it’s the one game you have to win, definitely. That kind of pressure – why would I miss that? It’s not enjoyable.

“I’m constantly in it, even when the game is over I can’t switch off. It’s not great to be in this situation all the time. Maybe other people enjoy that more than me. But that’s something I definitely will not miss.”
