Jurgen Klopp Reveals Liverpool Squad Bust-Up That Fueled Aston Villa’s Fightback

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has had mixed outcomes at Villa Park over the years, as he prepares for his club’s final Premier League away game.

In 2016, it began with a 6-0 thrashing, but Aston Villa returned the favor five years later with a spectacular 7-2 victory. But in between that, the Reds manager had one of his most enjoyable outings in England.

In November 2019, the home side appeared set to break the runaway league leaders’ undefeated streak, but with three minutes of ordinary time remaining, Andrew Robertson and Sadio Mane scored to complete a last-ditch reversal. A week later, they defeated Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City at Anfield to go nine points ahead, and eventually stormed their way to the title.Reported By Sky Sports.

Klopp claims that in that Villa Park game, his team demonstrated all of the credentials required of a Premier League winning team. That appears to include the game’s darker, invisible aspect, which emerges when things don’t go a team’s way.

“That game when we won 2-1, at half-time there was a little situation in the dressing room,” a smiling Reds manager explained. “There was a little argument between players, two players actually. But you will not get the names from me!

“It was no problem, it was just a situation. That’s how it should be to turn it around. That group of players was really special. We could calm it down and then we turned the game around, which was really, really special.

Despite the occasion, Villa will aim to secure Champions League status for good, while Unai Emery, ‘one of the greatest in business’, is in charge of the home squad, according to Klopp.
