Pep Guardiola maintains Manchester City’s Premier League dominance is far from ‘boring’ and dismisses claims that his club has purchased its success.
A victory over Tottenham this evening would put City two points ahead of Arsenal and all but guarantee a record fourth consecutive title. Reported By Evening News.
While the reigning champions have continued to make significant investments in their squad, they are far from alone.
Indeed, they were outbid by the Gunners last summer when Mikel Arteta won the fight to recruit Declan Rice, who has played such an important role in the Gunners’ success this season.

Despite their comparatively low league rankings, Chelsea and United have also spent large sums of money on fresh talent without yielding meaningful results or threatening City’s dominance.
When asked if City’s unrelenting excellence had made the Premier League too predictable, Guardiola delivered a sharp answer.
‘People think we’ll win because we’ve won before, but it doesn’t imply it’ll happen today,’ he explained.
‘Otherwise, all of the teams that won would have won rather than just one. We enjoy proving them correct, but we must do so.
Is it boring? It is not. It is quite challenging. Do you remember what it was? It was money.
‘It was the reason why Manchester United should have won every trophy. All of them. And the second Chelsea won all the titles. And third, Arsenal. All titles.
‘They spent far more over the last five years than we did. They should be there, but they’re not.
‘Translate please,’ said Guardiola. When City’s press officer tried to explain it in a way suitable for a public press conference, he got the meaning.
‘A lot of pressure? Why didn’t Sir Alex make an easier sentence for this moment?’ said Guardiola, speaking ahead of his side’s trip to Tottenham on Tuesday.
‘Now? No. Tomorrow we will feel the tension and the nerves. Of course we will feel it, otherwise it would be a bad sign.
