Manchester City Goalkeeper Out Of Squad’ For The Rest Of The Season Due To Facial Injury

Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson will miss both the FA Cup final and the final Premier League match on Sunday.

With the club on the verge of an unprecedented fourth consecutive triumph, the Brazilian was pulled from the field due to a facial injury sustained during Tuesday’s victory at Tottenham.

It has been verified by scans that Ederson suffered a minor fracture to his right eye socket after colliding with Cristian Romero.

It is believed that the 30-year-old did not sustain a concussion, despite initial worries.

After undergoing extensive treatment for the incident in the second half of the 2-0 victory, Ederson did attempt to continue playing, but manager Pep Guardiola pulled him off the field a few minutes later.

“Manchester City can confirm that Ederson will miss the final two games of the season due to a small fracture of his eye socket,” the club said in a statement.

Stefan Ortega, the number two, took Ederson’s place and made a huge late stop to save Spurs from tying the score. Erling Haaland then scored his second goal of the game from the penalty spot to seal the victory.

The German will keep filling in for Ederson, who has now replaced him in four Premier League games this season due to injury, according to Irish Examiner.

If City defeats West Ham at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday, they will win another title.

The next weekend, they will aim to accomplish a second consecutive double by defeating fierce rivals Manchester United at Wembley.
