Rio Ferdinand Predicts That Manchester United Will Sack Erik Ten Hag Following FA Cup Final

Manchester United will fire Erik ten Hag even if he wins the FA Cup Final on Saturday, according to Rio Ferdinand.

The Dutch manager has supervised the club’s worst-ever Premier League result, ninth, as well as a negative goal differential at the end of the season for the first time.

It’s been a difficult season for United, and there has been conjecture for months that minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe will want to hire a new manager.

And, while Ferdinand says he is open to Ten Hag staying, he believes a dismissal is far more likely.

“The more and more I think about it, win or lose, I don’t think Ten Hag will be there come next season,” Ferdinand said on his Vibe with Five podcast.

“I’m not saying that’s what I want, I’m just saying what I believe is going to happen, and I believe that the club are going to look elsewhere I think.

“I don’t think (winning the FA Cup) changes anything in the eyes of INEOS. I’ve not spoken to anyone there, this is just an assumption, this is what I think.”

He went on to say, “Putting injuries aside, the team’s performances have been so terrible. Most teams have experienced injuries, however not to the same level as Manchester United.

“I keep repeating this, and I sound like a broken record: your performance level may slip, but your football style should be identifiable. It is not.

“I don’t know what we are. I don’t know who we are. Who are we as a team? What are we?”
