Arsenal Agree To Part Ways With Albert Sambi Lokonga After Talks Over Future

Arsenal and Albert Sambi Lokonga have agreed to part ways this summer following discussions over the Belgian’s future.

Lokonga has spent the season on loan at Luton and is eager to depart permanently in quest of first-team action. Reported By stardard News.

Luton would love to keep the midfielder, but their chances are minimal after being relegated from the Premier League.

Lokonga will want to garner a lot of attention this summer after turning up some good performances throughout the season.

The 24-year-old developed an effective relationship with Ross Barkley in Luton’s midfield, drawing praise from former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.

“Lokonga, when you see him playing and you think: ‘Oh, he’s an Arsenal player and they loaned him?’ Interesting,” Klopp said in February ahead of Liverpool’s game with Luton.

Lokonga moved to Arsenal from Anderlecht in 2021 for roughly £15 million, but he has yet to make an impression.

Under Mikel Arteta, the midfielder’s opportunities were limited, therefore he went on loan to Crystal Palace for the second half of the 2022-23 season.

Last summer, it was made clear to Lokonga that he would not be part of Arsenal’s first-team plans, and Burnley expressed an early interest in him.

Luton, on the other hand, waited until late in the transfer window to sign him and won the race after manager Rob Edwards pitched him at his residence.

Lokonga has since spoken with Arsenal ahead of the summer, with all sides deciding that it is best to part ways now.
