Burnley is set to lose manager Vincent Kompany following their recent Premier League relegation, as the former Manchester City player is reportedly “in advanced talks” with Bayern Munich for an unexpected appointment.
The Bundesliga team fired Thomas Tuchel early in the season but retained him on staff to finish the campaign, finishing 18 points behind Bayer Leverkusen, the league champions.
Before the 2024–2025 season, Bayern hopes to “agree on a compensation fee” with Burnley because they feel that Kompany “wants to join them.”
According to reports, if the 38-year-old takes the position, he would travel to Germany with his backroom team from Turf Moor, which includes his assistant and former Liverpool forward Craig Bellamy.
Since they declared in February that they would be parting ways with Tuchel, Bayern has been looking for a replacement.
Their main objective was Xabi Alonso, for whom they were fiercely competing with Liverpool at the moment.
Nevertheless, after leading the Black and Reds to their first-ever league title and finishing an undefeated season, the Leverkusen manager has vowed to stick with them at least for the upcoming campaign.
Alonso, Julian Nagelsmann and Ralf Rangnick declined the chance to lead Bayern. After a dismal series of performances, the Bavarian team had their poorest season since 2010–11 and gave up their incredible 11-year run as Bundesliga champions.

Bayern came in third overall, behind VfB Stuttgart and Leverkusen.
Kompany Favourite For Bayern Munich Job
Despite being demoted by Burnley, Kompany is now the favorite to take over at Allianz Arena.
After leaving the field after a distinguished playing career, the 38-year-old entered the coaching field right away.
Before departing the Etihad in 2019, he won two FA Cups and four Premier League championships with Manchester City.
After two years in Belgium with Anderlecht, Kompany returned to England to take a position at Burnley, where he finished his rookie season with 101 points and led the team to promotion and the Championship title.
With one game remaining in the season, the Clarets’ brief return to the Premier League was ended, as they were destined for relegation.
Bellamy, who joined with Anderlecht to coach the U21 team before following him to Burnley in 2022, has been associated with Kompany since that time, according to Liverpool World.
During his playing career, Bellamy represented a number of teams, including Man City, Newcastle United, and West Ham, in addition to his two distinct stints with Liverpool.
When he returned, just before retirement, he was a member of the Liverpool team that won the EFL Cup in 2012 and the Community Shield in 2006.
