Mason Greenwood Sends An Emotional Message To Getafe Fans Ahead Of Premier League Return

Mason Greenwood wrote a greeting to Getafe supporters after his season-long loan with the Spanish club came to an end.

With months of connections to clubs in Italy and Spain and rumors that the one-cap England international would stay at Old Trafford next season, there has been a lot of conjecture about Greenwood’s immediate future.

Ever since his arrest for attempted rape, controlling behavior, and assault in January 2022, Greenwood has not been on the United team.

The 22-year-old footballer, who has always adamantly denied the allegations, had all charges against him withdrawn.

Two Premier League clubs are reportedly interested in the forward, in addition to Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, and Juventus, according to Sports Bible

Greenwood’s season-long loan team, Getafe, expressed interest in keeping him on board as well.

Greenwood, though, seems to have dashed hopes of sticking with the La Liga team past the summer after sending a farewell letter to the team and its fans on Instagram.

“Very thankful to the Getafe family and fans for an incredible season. I appreciate how you made me feel like one of your own. I relished every moment spent with my teammates and the club.

“A bittersweet conclusion, but I’m glad I got to play for you; best wishes.”

Getafe Wants Greenwood To Stay

Greenwood scored 10 goals in 36 games for Getafe. The final match he played for the team ended in a 2-1 loss against Mallorca.

Angel Torres, the president of Getafe, has stated in the open multiple times that he wants Greenwood to stay with the team.

Speaking about Manchester United, Torres stated: “According to the news we received last week, the sporting director to England to see some games and was with them. He is not going to return, so if a decent deal comes along, they would want to sell.

“We’ll have to hold off until June’s end. Both the team and the coach are quite pleased with him.

“I believe he’ll be with us through at least January or another season. He plays football well.”
