Man United Confirm Transfer Hours After FA Cup Triumph

Manchester United have reportedly began their summer business hours after their FA Cup victory over Manchester City on Saturday.

According to talkSPORT, the Red Devils confirmed that one of their youngsters had secured a permanent move away, while the majority of their stars were probably nursing sore heads.

Left-back Alvaro Fernandez moved from Real Madrid to United in 2020.

In 2021–2022, he was named on the bench in four Premier League games. But also took home the coveted Denzil Haroun Reserve-Team Player of the Year award.

In 2022–2023 he went out on loan to Preston, where he made 42 appearances.

In the third game of the season this year against Nottingham Forest, Fernandez earned a spot on the bench.

He did, however, play for Granada for the first half of the campaign. With the stint coming to an end in January.

He joined Benfica in the second half of the campaign on loan, assisting them in finishing second in the Portuguese top division. Benfica then signed him permanently for £5 million.

It is thought that there are two clauses in the transfer, both buyback and sell-on clauses.

Additionally, when United confirmed the deal, they made hints to that effect.

“Everyone at United would like to wish Alvaro all the best of luck in the future and will be keeping an eye on his progress,” the statement ended.
