Ten Hag Aims Vile Dig At Incoming Liverpool Boss Slot

Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag has fired a subtle dig at new Liverpool head coach, Arne Slot, stating that his compatriot may be overhyped.

On June 1, Slot will take over as the Reds’ new manager, replacing Jurgen Klopp, who stepped down at the end of the season after nine years in charge.

The 45-year-old has been Feyenoord’s manager since 2021 and has led the Dutch team to success in recent seasons. Last season, the team won the Dutch Cup, before that, he led De Kuip to their first Eredivisie title victory since 2017.

The former midfield player, who spent time playing for PEC Zwolle, Sparta Rotterdam, and NAC Breda, has been called a workaholic. Notably, Klopp has endorsed the new Reds boss, calling him a “good coach and a good guy.”

Ten Hag, who is presently awaiting text on whether he will continue to lead Old Trafford next season, seems, however, to be less impressed than some with Slot’s performance at Feyenoord this season. Asserting that PSV Eindhoven, the Dutch champions this year, were superior.

What Did Ten Hag Say About Slot And Feyenoord?

“People have been going overly lyrical about Feyenoord,” the Man United boss said to Voetbal International as reported by Daily Mail.

“Feyenoord were steady this year, but not top. PSV Eindhoven were two classes better in all areas. In terms of dominating the ball, in terms of putting pressure, in terms of intensity, you name it.”

Dutch coach Peter Bosz’s PSV team finished the season seven points ahead of Feyenoord at the top of the table. While Ten Hag’s former team, Ajax, dropped to fifth place and missed out on Champions League qualification.

“Bosz and his staff did that top-notch,’ Ten Hag added. ‘But the rest of the club is also well put together.

“PSV Eindhoven were better than the rest by such a long distance, even so much better than Feyenoord.”
