According to Spanish newspaper MARCA, Atletico Madrid has expressed interest in Julian Alvarez. The Colchoneros are looking to sign a striker during the summer transfer window and have approached the Argentine attacker’s entourage. However, a move for the Manchester City striker is unlikely to materialize.

Julian Alvarez has made significant progress after joining Manchester City in January 2022 for about €21.4 million. The Premier League champions loaned the 24-year-old back to River Plate before welcoming him ahead of the 2022/23 season. Since then, he has grown from strength to strength at the Etihad.
The Argentine international quickly rose to prominence, eventually becoming a regular for Manchester City in the 2023/24 season. In 54 games across all competitions, Alvarez scored 19 goals and assisted 13 times, making for an outstanding season. Meanwhile, the player was a member of the team that won the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Alvarez’s development at Manchester City has piqued the interest of numerous high-profile clubs. La Liga heavyweights, including Barcelona and Real Madrid, are interested in signing the former River Plate attacker. In addition, the Manchester City forward has surfaced as an Atletico Madrid target.
Alvarez is happy and content at Manchester City and will not push for a summer departure from the Etihad. So, Atletico Madrid must look elsewhere to bolster the offensive department in the upcoming transfer window.
