Ferdinand, Fabregas Explain Why Bellingham Is Above Foden In England Shirt

Former Premier League stars, Cesc Fabregas and Rio Ferdinand have given detailed explanations as to why Jude Bellingham is above Phil Foden for the English national team.

The duo believes Bellingham’s personality is making him a force to reckon with in the Three Lions’ team. Making Foden to take a backseat.

Bellingham stole the show on Sunday night against Serbia, winning the game and giving England a winning start to their European Championship campaign.

The Real Madrid star looked better than everyone else in Gelsenkirchen as he slipped into the six-yard box to head home a cross from Bukayo Saka’s right wing.

The former Birmingham City starlet is the youngest member of Gareth Southgate’s starting lineup at 20 years old. But he is already the star of the Three Lions.

Bellingham’s outstanding play at number 10 has forced Foden to play wide. And the Manchester City star, who won the PFA Player of the Year for his outstanding performances last season, found it difficult to contribute significantly against Serbia.

In the aftermath, Micah Richards, a former City and England defender, became frustrated with Foden’s position. However, fellow pundits Fabregas and Ferdinand took a different tack on the matter.

What Did Fabregas And Ferdinand Say About Bellingham?

According to Birmingham Live, Fabregas said: “I get your point totally, but a player of this class, of this level, of this talent, sometimes doesn’t even need to be told by the coach.

“He needs to want it more than the rest and for me, today, it showed that Jude is a little bit above him in this regard. He needs to get this personality back and do what he does in Manchester City.”

Ferdinand added: “Jude has come into this team and his body language has said to everybody, ‘Give me the ball or I will go nuts’.

“That’s his attitude and I think Phil’s seen that and his personality isn’t that and he’s allowing somebody else to come in and be the dominant figure in this team.”
