Liverpool See £42M Bid For Incredible Defender Rejected

LOSC Lille have reportedly rejected a £42 million bid from Liverpool for teenage defender, Leny Yoro.

Following the announcement that Joel Matip would be leaving Anfield when his contract ends at the end of this month, the Reds are hoping to acquire a new center-back this summer.

After the Merseysiders bid Jurgen Klopp farewell at the end of the season and Feyenoord head Arne Slot took over from the German, it might be a summer of change at Liverpool.

With Richard Hughes being named the Reds’ new sporting director. And the Slot taking over as head coach, the Dutchman is probably going to have less control over transfers than his predecessor did.

According to Football 365, Liverpool have made one of their first moves in the summer by making an offer for Yoro.

The Ligue 1 side are said to have “rejected” their offer of €50 million (£42 million). Preferring to hang on for their requested €60 million, which has attracted interest from other European teams.

But “the issue for those who desire Yoro is that many believe the player has already decided his fate, which is to sign with Real Madrid.”

However, Madrid’s assessment of the player gives other teams hope, since a Spanish newspaper states that Los Blancos are “not willing to pay” the €60 million Lille are seeking for the youngster.

The 18-year-old is being pursued by Liverpool and other European teams. And it is hoped that he “will end up changing his mind and discarding the Real Madrid option.”
