Shearer Aims Subtle Dig At Ten Hag For Outspoken Appearance On Dutch TV

Alan Shearer has reportedly slammed Manchester United Manager, Erik ten Hag following his appearance as a pundit on Dutch TV for Euro 2024.

The United gaffer was in the booth with broadcaster NOS for Sunday’s England 1-0 victory over Serbia in their opening Euro 2024 match, and he was blunt about his opinions.

Ten Hag talked candidly about the past month, during which his future at Old Trafford has been extremely uncertain. He was also critical of the Three Lions manager Gareth Southgate. This came after the Dutchman had been outspoken about the criticism he received from pundits during the season.

He also got into arguments with Shearer and Gary Lineker following the FA Cup final, claiming that the media had treated him and his team in an “unfair” manner.

According to Daily Mail, Shearer thought it was amusing that Ten Hag addressed the broader rumors that have been circulating about his future in recent weeks. And that he made an appearance on television following his remarks from last month.

“Away from the Euros it’s been confirmed that Erik Ten Hag will stay on as the manager of Manchester United,’ he told Betfair.

“Considering he had a bit of a pop at pundits after the FA Cup final, it was really interesting to see him being a pundit himself on television recently. But what a mess it’s been.

“How kind of Man United to go to Ibiza and inform him that he’s still wanted as the manager, and then tell him that they’ve even spoken to other candidates.”
