Bayern Munich Defender Matthijs de Ligt Set To Join Man United

Matthijs de Ligt, a defender for Bayern Munich, is now “keen” to sign with Erik ten Hag and Manchester United during the summer transfer window.

The 24-year-old has not yet played because Ronald Koeman likes Stefan de Vrij to be Virgil van Dijk’s teammate while he is away on international duty with the Netherlands.

According to Football 365, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the co-owner of Man United, is trying to reduce the average age of the Old Trafford team by instructing the recruiting department to only sign players who are 25 years of age or younger.

“No Galacticos” is another criteria Erik ten Hag and the transfer squad must go by. Ratcliffe’s remarks on a possible trade for Kylian Mbappe provide insight into the type of player Manchester United should be pursuing.

The Red Devils are reportedly interested in Bayern Munich center-back De Ligt, who was formerly an Ajax player under Ten Hag. Ligt fulfills Ratcliffe’s stated age requirement of 25 or younger, as revealed by The Athletic’s David Ornstein last week.

Additionally, despite the Premier League team’s failure to qualify for the Champions League, Florian Plettenberg, a reporter for Sky Germany, has claimed that De Ligt is “keen” on joining Manchester United this summer.
