Van Nistelrooy, Hake Arrive Man United Ahead Of Pre-Season Friendlies

Ruud van Nistelrooy and Rene Hake have reportedly arrived at Manchester United’s Carrington training complex for the first day of pre-season training.

According to Manchester Evening News, in an attempt to restructure manager Erik ten Hag’s backroom staff, United have hired Van Nistelrooy and Hake as coaches.

The reported revealed last month that Hake would be joining from Go Ahead Eagles, where he led the team to ninth place in the Eredivisie the previous season. At Twente, Hake and Ten Hag worked together at the team’s youth level.

Van Nistelrooy, a legend at United, returns to the team 18 years after leaving for Real Madrid. Both Benni McCarthy and Eric Ramsay, the former coach of the first team, who is now the head coach of MLS outfit, Minnesota United left their role last season.

Van Nistelrooy had discussions about taking over as manager of Burnley, but he ultimately decided to join United’s new set-up. In 2023, PSV Eindhoven won the Dutch Cup under his management.

It is claimed that United want a new coaching scheme similar to that of Manchester City, where Pep Guardiola has a large backroom team at his disposal.

After Ineos reviewed the team’s performance from the previous season, the alterations were made. Ten Hag’s contract was extended by one year by United last week.
