Alvaro Morata has reported hinted the 2024 European Championship in Germany could be his last for Spain following his claim that there is no respect for anyone or anything in Spain.
The 31-year-old has started four of Spain’s five Euro games thus far. He scored in their 3-0 group-stage victory against Croatia, and he is anticipated to start when his team takes on France in Tuesday’s Munich semifinal.
Earlier this month, he suggested that it would be “easiest” for him to make the move abroad because of the way fans have treated him and his family.
According to ESPN, the striker seemed to clarify this week that he would be staying at Atlético, stating he “won’t stop” until he’s won titles with the team.
“It could be [my last tournament with Spain],” Morata told the newspaper El Mundo on Monday. “It’s a possibility that I don’t want to talk about too much, but it’s probable.”

Before initially joining Atletico Madrid in 2019, Morata played for Real Madrid, Juventus, and Chelsea. He has a tense relationship with some Spain fans.

During Spain’s Euro 2020 campaign, home fans booed him once, and again in March during a friendly against Brazil at the Bernabéu.
“In Spain it’s hard for me to be happy,” Morata said. “Without doubt [I’m happier outside of Spain]. I’ve said it many times. Above all, because people respect me. In Spain there’s no respect for anything or anyone.”
