Arnold Makes ‘Threat’ Admission When Asked About Kane’s Possible Omission Against Netherlands

Liverpool ace, Trent Alexander-Arnold has reportedly claimed that it would be disastrous if England drop Harry Kane in their 2024 Euro semi-final clash against the Netherlands.

In spite of not being at his best, Kane has scored twice in the competition.

The fitness of the England captain has come under criticism. With a back issue going into the Euros, the Bayern Munich forward has only seen out two of the Three Lions’ five games.

Is it wise to bench Kane for the semifinals, some fans and commentators have questioned. Ollie Watkins and Ivan Toney have done well in their fleeting cameo roles.

However according to Daily Express, Alexander-Arnold notes that a squad sheet without England’s all-time leading scorer and captain would make Dutch defenders excited.

“Anyone facing England would like to see Harry Kane not playing. We’re talking about England’s record scorer,” the Liverpool defender said.

“He’s scored two in this tournament, helped us win games and, as our captain, leads by example and puts everything into games. People will always have opinions but he is leading us into a semi-final.

“He is part of the reason why the environment is such a good one in camp. And he is a reason why we’re heading into a semi.”

Kane scored against Denmark and struck the winner in extra-time against Slovakia in the last-16.

Alexander-Arnold continued: “You just know he is a threat. Anything in and around the box, you must be on red alert. He is the best finisher that I’ve seen or played with.”
